With an acceptance rate of over 50% and around 25% for University British Columbia undergraduate and graduate courses, respectively, the institute allows a fair chance to all the worthy and deserving candidates.

Domestic students have an admission rate of 58 percent for University British Columbia Vancouver and 74 percent for University British Columbia Okanagan. In contrast, international students have admission rates of 44 percent in Vancouver and 71 percent for the Okanagan. For graduate students, admission rates to UBC are much tighter.

Admission Requirements

A minimum of a four-year bachelor’s degree from the university British Columbia with a minimum B+. English Proficiency, Laptop Requirements: students at the University British Columbia Master of Data Science program it is required for students to own a laptop.

For international applicants who want to apply to UBC Master of Data Science (MDS), you can apply online the same procedure of admission process. As an international student, applicants need to add this document when applying: A valid Passport, A study permit. A temporary resident visa (TRV)

Lastly, the University of British Columbia Master of Data Science (MDS) offers entrance scholarships annually of up to $25,000 CAD to international and domestic students on both campuses. Most of the students that apply for MDS come from all over the world.

Note that MDS is an intense professional graduate degree program. It is mandatory that you attend classes, labs, and events. As such, we do not recommend that you work while taking this program.

Admission Deadlines

Applications for September 2021 closed on January 31, 2021.  Admission decisions can take up 8-10 weeks of the application deadline.
