OAU Post-UTME / DE Screening Form 2023: Obafemi Awolowo University (OWU) is one of the three universities in Nigeria that were established between 1961 and 1962.
The University was established on the basis of a report submitted in September 1960 to the Federal Government by a Commission appointed in April 1959 by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sir Eric Ashby. Ashby was a Master of Clare College, Cambridge.
The report was intended to study the demand for post-secondary education and higher education in the country over the next two decades. On 8 June 1961, the Act establishing the Provisional Council for the University of Nigeria was signed by Chief Rotimi Williams, the President of the University of Nigeria.
The University of Ife Edict, 1970 is an Edict of 11th June 1970, promulgated by the Western State Government of the Federal Military Government of Nigeria. This Edict replaced the Provisional Council Act of 8th June 1961.
The Edict has been amended by Obafemi Awolowo university, Ile-ife (amended) edict no.112 of 1975 (transitional Provisions) no. 23 of 1975. The new Decree effected the Federal Military Government’s takeover of the University.

The Provisional Council was replaced by the Governing Council. The University of Ife is governed by a Provisional Council, appointed by the Government of Nigeria under the authority of the Chief of the Federal Government. The Council is responsible for the policies and the finances of the University, and for the management of its affairs.

Is Obafemi Awolowo University Admission Form Out For Direct Entry Students?
Candidates who have applied for the Direct Entry (DE) category are advised that their registration process for the 2023 PUTME screening will begin on Monday, August 21, 2023. Unlike UTME candidates, DE candidates will not be required to sit for any additional screening examination apart from the verification of their uploaded credentials.

- Print your OAU post UTME registration slip and bring it to the screening venue.
- Bring your registration slip, original JAMB result slip, O’Level result(s), and other relevant documents.
